Some of our clients have found the following list of area descriptions very helpful with their relocation to Albuquerque. The numbers, next to the area names, correspond areas on the map.
Situated at the foot of the Sandia Mountains. Elegant contemporary and adobe-styled homes on one-half to one-acre lots. Natural landscaping is dominant in this area as well as great city views. Many "Sante Fe" styles homes amid southwest contemporaries.
Similar to Sandia Heights. Some of the streets and roads are not paved as yet. There are good mountain and city views. Horses are allowed in some sections.
A lovely area which includes the Tanoan Country Club and High Desert with many of the newer homes in Albuquerque.
Many Charming homes in this area. They range from older homes near the University, 40-50 years old, to 20-40 year old homes near Wyoming Blvd.
Variety abounds in this section of the city. Homes with tremendous views are found at the foothills of the mountains. Jogging/running paths are on tramway Blvd. Easy access to I- 40 and Kirtland Air Force Base.
In this attractive neighborhood there are many of the city's larger homes. Many of these homes have city and mountain views. The Four Hills Country Club is located in the center of this area. Easy access to I- 40, Kirtland Air Force Base and Sandia National Laboratories.
This section is bordered on the south by Kirtland Air Force Base, Sandia National Laboratories and the Albuquerque International Sunport. The Ridgecrest and University areas contain charming older homes in established neighborhoods. There is easy access to hospitals and downtown.
Many older homes in this area. Historic "Old Town", the museums, The Rio Grande Zoo and many other tourist attractions are located here as well as the Convention Center and office buildings. Convenient to the I-40 and I-25 interchange.
Tall trees and green pastures describe the southwest valley, located near the Rio Grande River. Gardens, horses, animals, fruit tree... a distinctive rural feeling.
More tall trees and green pastures, with Rio Grande River running through it. Mature landscaping, a rural atmosphere and horses are allowed in many areas. Home Prices range from bungalows to top-end customs.
This area includes Taylor Ranch, Which is a nice community of newer homes. Views of the city and mountains can be spectacular from some neighborhoods. There are many family areas. The Ladera Golf Course is great for the golfer's enjoyment. The city's newest Cottonwood Mall is located in the northeast between Taylor Ranch and Rio Rancho.
Located on the west mesa, this section of the city boasts of good city and mountain views. Paradise Hills Country Club and Golf Course is here. Easy access to Northeast Heights and I-25 via the six lane Paseo Del Norte Bridge. The Cottonwood mall is just minutes from this area.
Fruit trees. cottonwood trees, horses and a slower pace best describe this unique village. Older adobe homes can be found here as well as the most contemporary. One-half to one-acre lots are predominant, however, some mini-farms are available. Some areas have excellent mountain views and long historic roots.
The most remarkable, rapidly growing suburb on the west side of the Rio Grande is Rio Rancho. This city is characterized by affordable housing and wonderful views of the mountains and Albuquerque. It has its own shopping, country, golf course and school system. The Cottonwood Mall is within 10 minutes of the heart of Rio Rancho.
Smaller communities located near the city of Albuquerque. Rural, country atmosphere with unpaved side roads, orchards, pasture land and gardens. Easy access to Albuquerque via I-25 and approximately and 45 minutes to Sante Fe.
A blend of old and new. Older adobe homes can be found here as well as brand new contemporary style homes. Larger lot, gorgeous views and lovely executive homes are in this style homes. Rolling terrain, natural high desert vegetation which is about 25 minutes to downtown Albuquerque and 45 minutes to Sante Fe via I-25.
Tall pines, beautiful panoramic views and green hills describe most of the mountain regions. The temperature is usually five to fifteen degrees cooler than in Albuquerque. Snow and rainfall are more abundant. Commute time to Albuquerque is typically 20-30 minutes.
